Lent is actually about becoming closer to God, so that makes a lot more sense.
i never grew up with religion/dont actually know anything about lent, so it always seemed like “hey punish yourself by getting rid of this thing you love for jesus”

someone i work with today was telling me about how instead of giving up things for lent, his church encourages people to take things on. things like charity work, helping around the community, doing positive things for the people around you.
that is so much cooler than giving up facebook for a few weeks.
